Mt. Hebron High School (MHHS) is a community school with a reputation for excellence in educational achievement, athletics and the visual and performing arts. The teaching staff at MHHS is dedicated to the academic success of all students. Through our 9th Grade Team, Mt. Hebron offers programs to assist students in making a smooth transition to high school. The school offers a rigorous academic program that includes 16 Advanced Placement courses in core academic subjects and some elective disciplines. The G/T Mentor Program also provides opportunities for students to pursue special interests through independent research and mentorships. Many programs are in place to support students through effective special education services. The school has a program for English Speakers of Other Languages that supports the unique learning needs of our English Language Learners. Students who are most at-risk of academic failure participate in an alternative learning program: Pathways to Success. The School Improvement Team works with the instructional staff to develop and implement strategies that will ensure the success of all learners.
Mt. Hebron is proud of its continuing excellence in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. The club and activities program is under the direction of a full-time Athletics and Activities Manager. A variety of clubs and activities are available, including world languages, photography, mock trial, speech and debate. MHHS sponsors teams in 19 varsity sports and has won multiple county, regional, and state championships. Its girls lacrosse team is nationally ranked. Co-curricular activities include Dance Company and the 240 member Marching Unit. Mt. Hebron students in these activities travel extensively and frequently win local, state, and national recognition.
To maintain its reputation as a community school, Mt. Hebron supports many parent groups and service organizations. These groups provide active support to the school’s program and provide opportunities to involve parents in the education of their children. The Viking Service Club performs community service on the campus of MHHS and throughout the community.
